RideSafe Rendezvous thrills thousands 
 
Thousands of motorcycle riders from across Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cumbria converged on Blackpool last Sunday (25th April) for an entertaining road safety event that continues to grow every year.

An estimated 7,000 visitors attended the fifth annual RideSafe Rendezvous at Central Car Parks in Blackpool for a blend of dedicated entertainment, demonstrations and easy access to advice about road safety issues, rider training options and protective clothing.

Event organisers RideSafe BackSafe brought together motorcycle instructors, assessors, BikeSafe officers from Cumbria and Merseyside, other road safety professionals, Lancashire Police and motorcycle dealerships from across the region. The event also hosted a spectacular stunt show, including extreme motorcycle stunt rider Craig Jones and precision stunt driver Paul Swift, as well as live bands to add to the appeal for visitors.

Communications Manager at RideSafe BackSafe, Linda Sanderson, has heralded the event as a great success and said;-

"The weather behaved itself, bikers turned out in huge numbers and everybody seemed to enjoy the show immensely. The RideSafe BackSafe team were busy all day providing advice and information and it was great to see the willingness of bikers from all walks of life to seek guidance about safer motorcycling. The mix of attractions, retailers and industry support for the motorcycling community has yet again proved very effective in helping our aim to reduce casualties across the whole regions roads".

RideSafe BackSafe is run ‘by bikers, for bikers’ and draws on the skills, resources and enthusiasm of four regional road safety partnerships, motorcycling representative bodies and dealerships and four police forces.

The RideSafe Rendezvous was again supported by the Highways Agency.

Craig Jones rolls out new Kawasaki’s for RideSafe Rendezvous
 
Stunt rider Craig Jones has secured support from Kawasaki for the 2010 season and his first public appearance on the new green machines will be at the fifth annual RideSafe Rendezvous on Sunday 25th April.

The free one-day event, organised by RideSafe BackSafe with support from the Highways Agency, will also include stunt performances by Paul Swift Precision Driving (son of Russ Swift), slow riding demonstrations by Merseyside and Lancashire Police and BikeSafe officers plus live music by two local bands.

Dealerships supporting this year’s event include Hunts Motorcycles and Boom Trikes from Manchester, Preston Harley Davidson, Chorley Yamaha, Philip Youles of Blackburn, Millennium Motorcycles of St Helens and GhostBikes from Preston.

Honda UK will be appealing to the next generation of riders with their ‘My First Licence’ scheme.

Aimed at five to 11 year old children, the scheme provides youngsters with a mock-up mini road system, including road markings, signs and other road furniture, to enable them to experience the fun of riding a restricted 50cc motorcycle in a safe environment. Experienced riding instructors look after them constantly and all safety equipment and clothing is provided and fitted before the fun starts. At the end of their first ride, children will be given a personalised licence that replicates the real thing, as well as a RideSafe BackSafe goodie bag.

The RideSafe BackSafe team, together with BikeSafe, the Highways Agency, IAM riding assessors, BMF, MAG, First Bike on Scene and other industry experts, will be on hand to promote the benefits of voluntary rider training and discuss road safety issues affecting bikers. Young riders in particular will be encouraged to check out the latest and best in protective clothing and body armour.

The show will be held at Central Car Parks in Blackpool between 10.00am & 5.00pm and both show entry and parking are free.

Honda’s ‘My First Licence’ experience is free. Participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

RideSafe Rendezvous returns to Blackpool

The Annual RideSafe Rendezvous is growing every year and returns to Blackpool on Sunday 25th April 2010 to offer more entertainment and advice to motorcyclists from across the North West of England.

This year’s stunt show will feature Craig Jones on two wheels (or less!) and Paul Swift on four wheels (. . . or less!!), together with a proven and successful mix of dealerships, retailers, exhibitors and information about rider training and road safety.

FREE entry, FREE motorcycle parking and FREE advice from the RideSafe BackSafe team.

The 5th Annual RideSafe Rendezvous will be held at Central Car Park, Park Road, Blackpool, FY1 6HX on Sunday 25th April 2010 from 10am until 5pm.

Best of the Best slow down for annual motorcycling event
 
Police motorcyclists from across the North West will attend this year’s RideSafe Rendezvous to show case their riding prowess in the main stunt arena. The aim is to demonstrate supreme slow riding skills in the hope that motorcycling enthusiasts will aspire to improve their own machine control on the road.
RideSafe BackSafe Communications Manager, Linda Sanderson explains;-

“ Police motorcyclists, including BikeSafe officers are acknowledged as being the very best and even at slow speeds, spectators will be able to admire the balance, control and temperament that it takes to do their job, safely. The main arena will also host extreme stunt rider Craig Jones and precision stunt driver Paul Swift, so I think we will leave the more extreme tricks and stunt routines to them! “.

A significant number of rider assessment and rider training courses are available in the area and the RideSafe BackSafe team, including local BikeSafe officers, the Institute of Advanced Motoring (IAM) and RoSPA, will be encouraging motorcycle, moped and scooter riders to explore their options. The event will also highlight the benefits of wearing the best protective motorcycle clothing and body armour.
