We have just launched the new “Ride of Your Life. . .” film at the NEC and it is now available to view below This short film will be incorporated into our Geared & Go training courses for young riders, as a powerful educational message. But every biker should watch it, once.
Joshua Holmes was just eighteen years old when he died instantly in a road traffic collision in September 2008. ‘Josh’ was a hard working engineering apprentice, an only child, and a son to be proud of. In just a short time period, he had passed his motorcycling test, bought a sports bike and lost his life whilst riding on a dark night near Gisburn, Lancashire.
James Whitham - well known motorcycle racing commentator, former TT and Superbike Champion and a RideSafe BackSafe Ambassador - has supported the film with his own comments about the thrills and potential dangers of riding a motorcycle.
The idea to produce the film came about when Josh’s mother Kirsty approached RideSafe BackSafe to ask if anything good could be done to help other young motorcycle riders, by sharing the details of this tragedy. Josh’s story is a stark, honest and tragic recollection of his life, his death and the consequential effects on his family, friends and others. This is not a hard hitting publicity campaign and the content is not dictatorial, but ‘Ride of Your Life. . .’ will undoubtedly cause young riders to think carefully about riding skills, road safety and the consequences of their actions on two wheels.
As a tribute to Josh, let us hope that this film has a real benefit for other young riders.
