Santa’s Biking Elves Bring Joy this Christmas
“North West road safety initiative, RideSafe BackSafe, is set to organise a Christmas Toy Run for Wood Street Mission on Sunday 10th December. They are now calling on all bikers and scooterists’ in the region to donate toys that would be suitable for any child from toddler to teenager and then help to deliver the toys – with a little Christmas cheer – to the charity in city centre Manchester.
XS Manchester’s very own Steve Berry will join bikers from across the region on the day to deliver the gifts to Wood Street Mission.
Bikers are being asked to meet at Veteran Garage, Eccles Sunday 10th December, at 11am for a mince pie and brew before leaving at 12.30 p.m. to head to Wood Street Mission for 1pm.
Mike Abram from RideSafe BackSafe explains why the event is happening;- “Many people are feeling the pinch at the moment, but there is always someone less fortunate than yourself. Children and families in Greater Manchester are living every day in poverty.
This toy run will highlight the need for a community to support local charitable causes and Christmas is a perfect time for giving; it will make a huge difference for the children and their families. From a road safety point of view, reminding all road users that many motorcyclists use their bikes and scooters throughout the year is a good thing too “.
For those who would like to make a donation/gift, but cannot make the Toy Run or the gift may be too big to fit on a bike you can drop gifts off from Monday 4th December and Friday 8th December between 10am – 4pm at the Veterans Garage, Terminal Building, City Airport & Heliport, Liverpool Rd, Eccles, M30 7SA http://veteransgarage.co.uk/ Please ask for Dave when you get to the garage.
The gifts will be loaded onto a trike with a trailer, which has kindly been provided by Boom Trikes, based in Chorley. They will be taken on the ride out on the 10th December and delivered to the Wood Street Mission.
Gifts should be new and marked for adult/child male/female with age range. Wood Street Mission also accepts non-perishable food hampers.
