Who are we

RideSafe BackSafe is run by bikers, for bikers.  We promote further training to all bikers to improve their riding. We also emphasise the benefits of and reasons why protective clothing should be worn at all times.

Following a significant increase in the number of motorcyclists who died or suffered serious injuries on our roads, RideSafe BackSafe was created as a new, focussed and more sophisticated road safety initiative, exclusively for bikers.

RideSafe BackSafe is now acknowledged by the motorcycling industry, road safety partnerships and other agencies as being an authoritative and respected voice, dedicated to supporting bikers and saving lives.

RideSafe BackSafe is actively managed by a management team made up of members from Greater Manchester, and the wider North West region. Its activities reach and influence bikers across the North West and through this website, across the whole of the UK.

To make sure we are ‘by bikers, for bikers’, RideSafe BackSafe is advised by a forum of specialists including motorcycle groups, road safety practitioners, the Police and the motorcycle industry.

We know bikers are not always to blame for the road traffic collisions that they are involved in. That is why we also focus our energies on campaigns and press stories that reach all other road users. Recently we supported the national THINK! Bike campaign, the Last Ride? Your Choice campaign, the Report-a-Road scheme and the joint MCI and AA campaign targeting motorcycles and pedal cycles.

But the best thing that any biker can do is to seek further training. This can turn a journey into an enjoyable ride; isn’t that why we own bikes? Register your interest with us here if you fancy coming along to the IAM / RSBS dealer day.
